In order to treat Cancer patients in all aspects, the Lions of District 324C1 (Present 316 A) has established a separate Trust in 1984 to take up the construction of “Lions District 324 C1 Cancer Treatment and Research Centre” at Visakhapatnam with an Objective to provide the treatment accessible to all at an affordable cost or even at no cost. Lions Cancer Hospital is a unique venture, first of its kind built and run by Lions District, Lions Clubs International - the largest voluntary service organization in the World.
The mission of Lions Cancer Hospital is to provide compassionate and comprehensive treatment to the Cancer Patients.
LIONS CANCER HOSPITAL plans to attack the problem of Cancer on several fronts, using a multi-pronged strategy. With the help of various Lions Clubs and other service organizations we create awareness about cancer among people, especially those who live in rural areas about cancer.
LIONS CANCER HOSPITAL is one of the hospitals in the region providing all modalities of treatment for cancer patients under one roof. They are, Onchological Surgery,Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, Target therapy and Palliative care and Supportive Treatment.
We have provision for all the necessary investigation like laboratory (Clinical Pathology & Biochemistry), Radiology department, full fledged physiotherapy department and in house Pharmacy.
The Departments of Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology & Chemotherapy are working under the supervision of highly qualified and experienced Oncologists. The Nursing and supporting medical staff are qualified and well trained with special skills required for caring the cancer patients. So far we have treated around 25,000 Cancer patients of not only from this area but also from neighboring states like Telangana, Orissa, Chattisgarh etc since 1996.
Recently we are providing Services on other specialties like General Medicine, General Surgery, Pulmonology, ENT, Orthopedic, Paediatric and Physiotherapy along with Oncology by changing the name as LIONS CANCER & GENERAL HOSPITAL.
We have the facilities like Twin Operation Theaters, ECG, Digital X-Ray, Ultra Sound Scan, Colour Doppler, 2 D Ehco, 24 Hrs Emergency Care, Ambulance Service.
Now we have decided to go for New Linac Machine for treating Radiation patients by decommissioning the existing cobalt unit after taking necessary permissions from the concerned Government departments, which costs around 1.4 million dollars. Linac machine treatment is more accurate and gives better results. Also we wish to establish Palliative Care unit along with other medical departments by acquiring latest equipment to provide qualitative treatment to the patients.

The donations to this Trust are exempted under Sec.80G of Income Tax Act 1961 and also we have registered with Government of India to undertake CSR Activities. Dr.YSR Arogyasri Facility available for cancer patients. Efforts are on to get Dr YSR Arogyasri , BSKY facility to other specialties also.
